Abstract
Modern distribution is challenged by large regions, an increasing number of distribution points, and changing demand dynamics. This demands an efficient distribution strategy to optimise delivery routes. PT Sanmas struggles with distribution issues due to the absence of structured routes, leading to time and cost inefficiencies. Drivers are given the freedom to determine delivery routes without a specific order, resulting in suboptimal product distribution. This study focuses on optimising the distribution route of 5 kg Nasi Uduk rice products using the Ant Colony Optimisation (ACO) method. The results showed that the ACpO method was able to reduce the distance travelled from 787.5 km to 575.6 km, or a reduction of 27%. By applying this method, the company is not only able to improve operational efficiency but also reduce dependence on conventional methods that are less flexible. The results of this study provide an optimal solution for the company in overcoming distribution challenges, and are relevant to be applied in industries with high distribution complexity.
