Abstract
The nutrient content influences the growth and yield of purple glutinous corn plants. The increase in production of purple glutinous corn is supported by the application of plant growth regulators (PGR) and KCl fertilizer. Paclobutrazol PGR is essential for increasing chlorophyll content, regulating plant height, and enhancing structural strength to withstand extreme weather conditions, while KCl fertilizer is crucial for supporting photosynthesis, seed filling, and yield quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth response and yield of purple glutinous corn plants to the application of paclobutrazol concentrations and KCl fertilizer doses. This study was conducted in Sekoto Village, Badas District, Kediri Regency, East Java, from September to November 2024. The experimental design used was a Split-Plot Design (SPD), with the main plot being paclobutrazol concentrations and the sub-plot being KCl fertilizer doses, replicated three times. The main plot was the paclobutrazol concentration (K) with four levels of treatment: 0 ppm (K0) (control), 1250 ppm (K1), 1500 ppm (K2), and 1750 ppm (K3). The sub-plot was the KCl fertilizer dose (P) with four levels of treatment: 1.125 g/plant (75 kg/ha) (P1), 1.5 g/plant (100 kg/ha) (P2), 1.875 g/plant (125 kg/ha) (P3), and 2.25 g/plant (150 kg/ha) (P4). The results showed that the combination of paclobutrazol concentration and KCl fertilizer dose produced varied responses to the measured parameters, including plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, cob weight with husk per sample plant, cob weight without husk per sample plant, and leaf chlorophyll content.
