Abstract
Tomato is one of the horticultural commodities that is rich in vitamins and minerals. The market demand for tomatoes continues to increase every year, but this is not accompanied by a corresponding increase in tomato production. Tomato production can be supported by the application of appropriate growing media compositions and plant growth regulators. This study aimed to determine the best growing media composition, the optimal concentration of paclobutrazol, and the interaction between these two factors. The research was conducted from January to April 2023 at the experimental field in Sidoarjo Regency, using a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was the growing media composition, consisting of soil (control), and mixtures of soil : goat manure : rice husk charcoal in the ratios of (2:1:1), (1:2:1), and (1:1:2). The second factor was the application of paclobutrazol at three concentration levels: without paclobutrazol (control), 150 ppm, and 300 ppm.The results showed that the application of the growing media composition (Soil: Goat Manure: Rice Husk Charcoal) 1:2:1 and paclobutrazol concentration of 150 ppm had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, flowering age, total number of fruit, and total fruit weight.
