Abstract

The Karangkaring Mangrove Forest in Gresik, East Java, has an important role in maintaining the balance of the coastal ecosystem and supporting tourism activities. This research aims to map soil porosity and pH values, which influence the soil's ability to absorb water, nutrients, and build structures on it. Analysis of changes in soil conditions using the ANOVA test over the last five years was the basis for determining sampling locations. Porosity and pH data from laboratory tests were linked to reflectance data from Landsat 8 satellite images using the Lagrange polynomial method. The results show the dominance of clay type soil with sand and silt contamination from surrounding settlements, as well as a pH distribution that is mostly in accordance with clean water quality standards except in areas bordering PT. Sumbermas Indah Plywood, where the pH is below 6.5, indicates pollution. The polynomial equation that connects band 4 reflectance with the porosity value is (y = 21246x3 - 18701x2 + 5475.7x - 532.78) with a deviation of ±22.38%, while the dominance of the soil composition based on the porosity value shows that the dominant soil composition is clay with an average porosity amounting to 61.52%. Meanwhile, the pH is (y = -483272x³ + 407167x² - 114242x + 10682) with a deviation of ±12%, while the average pH level of the water contained in the Mangrove Forest is 7.34. However, at several data points the water quality did not meet due to the pH level being below 7.0. It is hoped that the thematic map resulting from the analysis can serve as a guide for conservation and sustainable development in the Karangkaring Mangrove Forest tourist area.
