Abstract
This study explores the differences in smoked fish production methods in Penatar Sewu Village, Sidoarjo, which include traditional and modern methods, as well as their impact on business income. Using a purposive sampling technique, 40 smoked fish businesses were selected as samples, consisting of 20 businesses using traditional methods and 20 using modern methods. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively and with a t-test to compare incomes. The results showed that the modern method is more efficient and generates higher net income. Although the modern method requires significant initial investment, its time efficiency and greater production capacity support long-term income growth. On average, entrepreneurs using the modern method earned higher income, amounting to 7.37 million rupiahs per month, compared to 3.67 million rupiahs for those using the traditional method.
