Abstract
Regional economic development is a collaborative process between local governments and local communities in managing resources to create job opportunities and promote economic growth. In the city of Surabaya, disparities in contributions across economic sectors persist, indicating the need for more equitable and inclusive development strategies. This study aims to identify key economic sectors, determine potential subdistricts as growth centers, and analyze inter-regional interactions, with GRDP serving as the dependent variable.Using secondary data from 2017 to 2021, the analysis employed Klassen Typology, Scalogram, and Gravity methods. The findings highlight economic sectors, subdistrict potential, and inter-subdistrict interactions. Sukolilo, Mulyorejo, and Wonokromo subdistricts were identified as potential growth centers, with significant interactions respectively with Rungkut, Tambaksari, and Wonocolo subdistricts. The establishment of these growth centers is expected to trigger spillover effects that accelerate development in surrounding areas. This study provides a foundation for sustainable development planning aimed at reducing economic disparities among regions in Surabaya. Keywords: economic sector classification, subdistrict potential, inter-subdistrict interaction, GRDP
