Abstract
One of the topics taught in the Lesson Plan (RPP) for 6th grade elementary school is about the Moon as a satellite. The Moon is a celestial object that cannot be directly observed by the eye, making it quite an abstract subject. According to Jean Piaget's cognitive development theory, 6thgrade students are in a transitional phase between concrete thinking and abstract reasoning. Therefore, media assistance is needed to help them better understand this material. The role of educators is crucial, especially in relation to the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum, which emphasizes a balance between cognitive (intellectual), psychomotor (movement), and affective (attitudes) aspects. This contrasts with the School-Based Curriculum (KTSP), which tends to focus primarily on cognitive aspects. As a result, educators are required to be more creative in their teaching. One way to achieve this is by using engaging and interactive learning media. The goal is to spark students' enthusiasm and improve their understanding through the use of visual media. This research aims to design an interactive book on the Moon satellite that aligns with the Semester Learning Plan (RPS). The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and literature study. The data analysis technique applied is descriptive analysis. The research findings, involving the target audience, show that they prefer books with cartoon-style illustrations, cute and fun characters, and are more likely to choose interactive books over traditional illustrated books. Based on these findings, the keyword "Fun Exploring the Moon" was derived, reflecting the excitement of exploring the Moon. This keyword indirectly invites the target audience by emphasizing a fun experience. The keyword was then developed into verbal, visual, and media concepts. It is hoped that this design can contribute to enhancing 6th-grade students' understanding through the development of an engaging interactive book. Additionally, this book can also be used by educators to teach the material about the Moon satellite in a fun way.
