Abstract
Indonesia has abundant natural resources, cultural richness, and diversity in itscommunity activities. This makes tourism a sector with the potential to boost theeconomy. Central Java Province, in particular; is one of the provinces with a widevariety and large number of tourist destinations. This attracts many local andinternational tourists to visit. However, in reality, the growth of the tourism sector;especially in terms of the number of tourists, has not been accompanied by anincrease in the sector's contribution to the Gross Regional Domestic Product(GRDP).Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the exent of theimpact the tourism sector has on GRDP. The analytical method used is multiplelinear regression analysis with a time series of 25 years, including the number oftourist attractions, number of tourists, number of hotel accommodations, numberof restaurants, and tourism sector investment as independent variables, andGRDP as the dependent variable. The results show that the number of touristattractions and the number of tourists have a positive and significant effect, whilethe number of hotel accommodations, restaurants, and food establishments have apositive but not significant effect. Additionally, tourism sector investment has anegative and significant effect. Based on these findings, it is hoped that thegovernment can collaborate with the community to improve and develop thetourism sector.
