Abstract
Another alternative to the problem of low clean water service is the use of boreholes. In Sengon Village well water, the Fe (iron) and Mn (manganese) content exceeds the established quality standards of 0.743 mg/L and 1.60 mg/L. The aeration method of aerator tray with the addition of media is one of the processing solutions to reduce these pollutant levels. The aeration method functions to produce water contact with oxygen. This study aims to determine the most optimal performance produced by tray aerators with a comparison of the addition of activated carbon, zeolite, or mixed media with variations in tray spacing of 30 cm, 40 cm, and 60 cm and aeration time for 150 minutes. Each parameter has an influence on the measurement of Fe and Mn in units of percent removal (%). The parameter with the highest weight is the parameter that most influences the effectiveness in the removal of Fe and Mn. The values of the parameter variations were then analyzed and Anova Two Way statistical test was conducted. The results showed that the most optimal reduction in Fe (iron) levels was aeration with the addition of activated carbon media with a tray spacing of 40 cm and an aeration time of 150 minutes with a percent removal of 96.67%. To reduce Mn (manganese) levels, the most optimal is aeration with the addition of zeolite media with a tray spacing of 40 cm and aeration time for 150 minutes with a percent removal of 99.08%. The most optimal increase in DO (Dissolved Oxygen) levels is aeration with the addition of zeolite media with a tray distance of 60 cm and an aeration time of 150 minutes with a final DO value of 6.6 mg/L. And the most optimal pH increase is aeration with the addition of zeolite media spacing 40 cm and aeration time for 150 minutes with a final pH value of 7.8.
