Abstract
Fruit flies are the main pests of star fruit plants. The large population of fruit flies that attack star fruit requires attention to effective control. Aromatic plant attractants are one of the environmentally friendly controls. Types of plants that can be used as attractants are nutmeg and basil. The presence of methyl eugenol in the plant's essential oil can produce a sex pheromone aroma similar to that of female fruit flies, thus reducing the rate of reproduction. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Data collection was carried out using variance detection, if there was a real difference, then the BNJ test was continued at the 5% level. The correlation between abiotic factors and fruit fly populations was also observed. The attractant that most commonly traps fruit flies is nutmeg essential oil in a 2ml dose. Correlation of temperature and population Y= 30.275 – 0.001x; R²=0.602 and rainfal Y= -14.457 + 0.013x; R²=0,081. Nutmeg essential oil has an active period of more than 7 days while basil only has 4 days. All fruit flies identified were of the B. carambole species. Aromatic plants can be an alternative to synthetic attractants. Nutmeg essential oil is superior in trapping fruit flies with the largest population compared to basil essential oil. Using a dose of 2 ml is superior because evaporation takes longer. Types of essential oils have different active periods according to the methyl eugenol content in the plant.
