Abstract
Fusarium stalk rot is one of the significant diseases in corn plants. Stalk rot can lead to a decrease in productivity. Currently, many chemical fungicides are used to control various diseases in plants caused by Fusarium sp. Continuous use of chemical fungicides can cause environmental damage and lead to pathogen resistance. Direct use of biological control agents has often been conducted, but with less effective results. Therefore, this study aims to increase the effectiveness of biological control agents in inhibiting the disease through bioencapsulation. It is hoped that the results of this research on the potential of bioencapsulation of endophytic bacteria Bacillus sp. will be beneficial as a recommendation for controlling Fusarium stalk rot disease. Applying bioencapsulation beads of endophytic bacteria Bacillus sp. as biocontrol can be an alternative in controlling Fusarium stalk rot in corn plants compared to using chemical fungicides with the active ingredient prophineb. The results showed that the K3 treatment (3% sodium alginate concentration) achieved the highest results in viability testing and encapsulation efficiency, which affected the disease intensity value, as well as the highest value in biological test. The results obtained also did not differ significantly from the treatment using chemical fungicides.
