Abstract

The research focuses on converting corn cobs into cellulose using NaOH solvent with the assistance of ultrasonication. The study aimed to reduce lignin content in corn cobs through delignification. Findings showed that increasing ultrasonic power could enhance cellulose content, but excessively high power might decrease it. Delignification percentage also increased with higher ultrasonic power. Time did not significantly impact the results, while power had a significant effect. The study suggests that ultrasonic waves in corn cob delignification can optimize outcomes, with the best results achieved at 110 watts for 60 minutes, yielding 66.08% cellulose content and 38.14% delignification. Future research recommendations include utilizing more advanced quantitative testing methods and developing the best outcomes as a basis for biomass product pretreatment to increase value.
