Abstract

Aluminum cable waste has good coagulant properties if it can be synthesized into Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) because the active aluminate groups can gather suspended materials in water into flocs during the water purification process. In this study, PAC was made by hydrolyzing aluminum samples with a 33% HCl solution. The sample was then left for 1 day to complete the hydrolysis process. After the AlCl3 solution was formed, the polymerization process was carried out with monomer variations of 10; 15; 20; 25; 30 (ml), and the addition of Na2CO3 solution as an initiator with concentration variations of 3; 4; 5; 6; 7 (N). The obtained data were then optimized using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine the factor variations for optimal results.
