Abstract
Poverty is a development challenge that is the main focus, especially in developing countries because it has a direct impact on the level of people's welfare. Community welfare will be achieved inseparable from the government's role in managing regional finances. Managing regional finances with the value for money concept will increase economic growth which in turn can reduce poverty levels. This study aims to analyze the effect of regional-financial performance on poverty through economic growth as an intervening variable. The object of this study is districts/cities in Central Jawa, using a sample of 175 data consisting of 35 districts/cities during the period 2018-2022. This study uses path analysis with the help of the STATA 17 program. The results of this study show that the independence ratio has an insignificant negative effect on economic growth, while the effectiveness ratio and capital expenditure ratio have a significant positive effect on economic growth. The independence ratio and effectiveness ratio have a positive effect on poverty, but the capital expenditure ratio has an insignificant negative effect. Meanwhile, economic growth has a significant negative effect on poverty. Economic growth as an intervening variable is able to mediate the ratio of effectiveness and the ratio of capital expenditure to poverty, but is unable to mediate the ratio of regional financial independence to poverty.
