Abstract
With the advancement of infrastructure and increasing housing needs, the availability of building materials in hardware stores becomes crucial, but this poses the challenge of unpredictable demand fluctuations. This has caused the Sinar Pagi Building Material Store in Sidoarjo to frequently experience stock shortages or surpluses during certain periods. This research aims to address the issue of demand fluctuations by using the SARIMA time series forecasting method, involving stationarity tests, model identification, significance tests, feasibility tests, and error percentage tests using RMSE and MAPE for the sales data of the three best-selling products (cement, Rajawali glue, and wall paint) over seven months. The analysis results show a MAPE of 12.24% and RMSE of 0.75 for cement, MAPE of 21.57% and RMSE of 0.57 for Rajawali glue, and MAPE of 22.09% and RMSE of 0.78 for wall paint. The sales forecast for the next two weeks is 419 bags of cement and 102 pieces of Rajawali glue, and for the next week, it is 22 pieces of wall paint. This research provides recommendations to assist management in making decisions related to inventory and sales, thereby reducing losses due to stock fluctuations.
