Abstract
This research aims to find out and understand how the virtual identity of Indopride city residents is constructed in the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto V #INDOPRIDE Roleplay. This type of research is qualitative with a virtual ethnographic approach. The data sources in this research are divided into 2, namely primary and secondary data sources. Primary data was obtained using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained through literature study. Data analysis was carried out through 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The theory used in this research is social construction theory. The research results show that the informant's virtual identity can be observed based on personal identity, social identity and cultural identity. Personal identity is demonstrated through the choice of name, physical characteristics of the virtual body, gender, hair, mustache, and animated movements. Social identity is demonstrated through occupation, clothing, and choice of vehicle. use of words, social relations, traits, attitudes and behavior in the city of Indopride. Cultural identity is demonstrated through the values and language use adopted by players. Interpersonal relationships built in games can develop into the real world. GTA V #INDOPRIDE Roleplay players modify the meaning of words that only people who have played it know. The construction of virtual identities carried out by informants is different from their identities in the real world. The dialectic between the player's subjective reality and the objective reality of the GTA V community #INDOPRIDE Roleplay plays an important role in the construction of the player's virtual identity.
