Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on the data, it shows that the largest source of waste comes from the composition of food waste originating from household activities with 3997.2 tons/year or a percentage of 38.4%. This will increase the negative impact on the environment. One approach currently being developed is the use of Black Soldier Fly larvae. This research aims to use BSF larvae for decomposing waste, analyzing various variations of substrates for growth and content in BSF larvae, as well as using larvae after decomposing waste. This research involved variations in feeding with a combination of organic waste containing fiber, protein and carbohydrates for 12 days. Data analysis carried out included the reduction percentage, efficiency of digested feed (Efficiency Conversion of Digestive Feed), biomass weight gain, testing the results of protein levels in BSF larvae. The research results showed that the combination of H1 (boiled kale, catfish head, and stale rice) had the most effective reduction percentage value, reaching 90%. This is because substrates with sufficient and complex nutrients are more effective for larvae in reducing organic waste. Meanwhile, the weight gain of BSF larvae is influenced by the consumption of feed digested by the larvae. The highest ECD value of 69% was the combination of the substrate code H2 with the substrate content namely fiber (boiled kale), protein (catfish head), and carbohydrates (stale rice) + vinegar solution. If BSF larvae are fed nutritionally balanced food, the content of the BSF larvae will be balanced. The larvae resulting from decomposition in the research will be used as animal feed and have met SNI (8290.5:2016) as well as the protein content of BSF larvae. In all treatments, variation had a high value, namely between 63,1% and 68,15%. Keywords: Waste decomposition, Black Soldier Fly, food media, and nutritional content of BSF lar
