Abstract

Russia's attack on Ukraine in 2022 was a decision that shocked many countries. Many countries have implemented sanctions and indeed the impact can be felt by many countries. Therefore, in this research an analysis of Russia's invasion policy towards Ukraine will be carried out. Considering that Russia also attacked Ukraine by annexing Crimea in 2014, then in 2022 Russia use their military again, this research will discuss the reasons for Russia's attack on Ukraine. This research uses a rationale framework in the form of the Rational Actor Model, Geopolitics, and National Interests to help explain Russia's rational reasons for attacking Ukraine. This type of research is a type of qualitative explanatory research using document data collection techniques. The research results show that the reason Russia attacked Ukraine was because of the Black Sea, which is a vital area for Russia. Keywords: Geopolitics, Black Sea, Russia, Ukraine, Invasion
