Abstract

The eucalyptus plant (Melaleuca leucadendra L.) is an annual plant that produces essential oil, which is used as the main ingredient in the rubbing oil industry. Pests in eucalyptus plantations can reduce the production of good eucalyptus leaves. Research was conducted to determine the type of pest, attack symptoms, and intensity of pest attacks on eucalyptus plants. The research was conducted in August–September 2023 in eucalyptus forests in RPH Sidoharjo, BKPH Sukun, and KPH Madiun through direct observations in the field, which included insect pests, symptoms, and levels of pest attacks. Sampling of pest insects by direct observation (visual control) and sweep net. The results of the research found that the main pests that attack eucalyptus plantations are treehoppers (Siphanta acuta), snout beetles (Hypomeces squamosus), and termites (Macrotermes sp.). Symptoms of pest attacks include necrosis on the leaves, gnawing on the leaves, and rotten and brittle stems. The average incidence (area) of attacks and intensity of pest attacks were, respectively, 85.60% and 30.05% for the Siphanta acuta pest, 88.20% and 23.10% for the Hypomeces squamosus pest, and 88.40% and 30.25% for the Macrotermes sp. pest. The attack intensity is included in the low-to-moderate attack intensity category
