Abstract
Propagation of mint (mentha arvensis) plants can be done using the cutting method using cutting materials in the form of shoot cuttings and stem cuttings then are treated specially by using a IBA (Indole Butyric Acid) to prevent failures and accelerate the growth of cuttings. This research was conducted from October 2023 to January 2024 inside a screen house in Sananwetan District, Blitar City, East Java. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial. The first factor is the type of cutting material consisting of two types (shoot cuttings and stem cuttings). The second factor is the concentration of IBA consisting of 4 levels (0 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm, and 20 ppm). The research data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If there is a significant effect, it will be followed by a Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test at the α 5% level. The research results indicate that the combination of shoot cuttings and IBA concentrations of 15 and 20 ppm yielded the highest results in terms of the percentage of live cuttings, while the treatment of stem cuttings and 20 ppm IBA concentration yielded the best results in terms of the number of shoots at 2-6 weeks after planting (WAP) and root length at 4 WAP. Stem cutting treatment showed higher shoot, leaf, and root growth in the early stages of growth, while shoot cuttings yielded the best results in terms of the percentage of live cuttings as well as higher shoot and leaf growth since the age of 12 WAP. The 20 ppm IBA concentration yielded the best results in root initiation and was able to increase the percentage of live cuttings and support vegetative growth of the plants.
