Abstract
This study aims to identify key sectors and develop the economic potential in Magetan Regency and Ngawi Regency as part of regional development efforts. The study employs Location Quotient (LQ), Shift Share analysis and tipologi klassen methods to identify sectors with competitive advantages, significant contributions to regional economic growth and to know the classification of economic sector in a region. The data used covers the period from 2017 to 2022. The results show that several key sectors in both regencies have substantial potential for further development. In Magetan Regency, the agriculture and tourism sectors exhibit high potential with high LQ values, while in Ngawi Regency, the manufacturing and trade sectors are dominant. Shift Share analysis indicates that economic growth in both regencies is driven by regional and national factors, with some sectors experiencing faster growth compared to others. This research provides strategic recommendations for the development of key sectors that can enhance the welfare of the community and accelerate economic growth in Magetan and Ngawi Regencies. These recommendations include infrastructure improvement, investment promotion, and human resource quality enhancement through training and education.
