Abstract
ABSTRACT The study examines the "Batik Jetis" board game design for children aged 7-12 years as a cultural preservation medium. Batik Jetis, the cultural heritage of Sidoarjo, East Java, has long been an important part of the Indonesian heritage. With its rich history and diverse motifs, batik Jetis offers important cultural values to preserve. However, the challenge of the conservation of batik in the modern era, especially among children, has been a major concern in this study. The research was inspired by the lack of recognition and understanding of Jetis batik among children in Sidoarjo, which is reflected in the surveys, observations, and interviews carried out. The lack of learning material about batics in schools and low interest in the process of making batics indicate the need for new methods that can attract attention in this cultural education. In the preparation of this final task, data collection is carried out using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The data obtained is then analyzed descriptively and using the method 5W + 1H to detail the data and formulate keywords as guidelines in formulating concepts for this design. The research approach includes the use of board games as an interesting and interactive learning medium. Board games, which are widely known and have a variety of educational benefits, are chosen as a tool to enhance children's learning interests and introduce them to Jetis's cultural values. By integrating motives and values or symbolic meanings of batik Jetis into board games, the study aims to raise awareness and love of local culture among children. Hopefully, this board game not only enhances children's knowledge of Jetis but also instills a sense of love and responsibility to preserve this cultural heritage so that it is not lost, extinct or stolen. Keywords: Batik Jetis, Conservation of Culture, Board Game
