Abstract
MODERN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL WITH GREEN ARCHITECTURAL APPROACH IN JEMBER Nadzar Ghifari Sudibyo 17051010043 Jember District is one of the regions in Indonesia whose majority of the population is mostly Muslim. The data is supported by the presence of educational facilities scattered at many points in the region. Al-Haromain Association is one of the groups of the Islamic Society that is promoting the establishment of an educational facility based on the Modern Islamic Boarding School in Jember district. The effort was created to be a container or means for young people in Jember district to study Islamic Shariah without excluding National Curriculum Education. The Modern Islamic Boarding School is presented with the concept of green architecture as a supporter of teaching and learning activities as well as to address the problems of buildings in tropical countries such as Indonesia that are still dependent on artificial heating and lighting. Energy-borne buildings are not only high in operating costs, but also cause greenhouse gas emissions that can damage the environment. The kinds of buildings in Indonesia that are still energy-intensive are educational facilities. The aim of the implementation of this green building concept is to create sustainable buildings that have environmental responsibility and energy efficiency by utilizing natural resources, managing or recycling garbage, using rainwater as a new source of water, and using environmentally friendly materials. The implementation of this concept will result in the design of a building that is appropriate in terms of economy, utility, as well as comfort.
