Abstract

The increasing level of income inequality, reflected by the rising Gini coefficient since the onset of the pandemic in the last three years, has become the main focus of this research. The aim of this study is to examine and comprehend the influence of Economic Growth, Agglomeration, and Open Unemployment Rate on income inequality in the Gerbangkertosusila Region. This region encompasses several districts and cities, such as Gresik District, Bangkalan District, Mojokerto District, Mojokerto City, Surabaya City, Sidoarjo District, and Lamongan District. The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency. The data analysis method involves panel data regression analysis and the estimation of the Random Effects Model (REM), implemented using Eviews 12 software. The research findings indicate that economic growth does not have a significant impact on income inequality, agglomeration does not have a significant impact on income inequality, and the open unemployment rate has a significant impact on income inequality.
