Abstract
This study analyses the potential distribution of SO2 gas emissions at the Stack Unit 2 Sulphuric Acid production plant. SO2 emissions pose a significant threat to human health and the environment, requiring control and reduction strategies. SO2 dispersion modelling, using software such as AERMOD, can be a valuable tool for predicting SO2 concentrations in air and its impact on the environment. In this study, AERMOD software was used to map the distribution of SO2 emissions from PT Petrokimia Gresik. The main objective is to provide SO2 emission management data and analyse the relationship between these emissions and meteorological data. The modelling results showed that the highest SO2 concentration reached 7,849 µg/m3 at certain locations, still far below the established air quality standard of 75 µg/m3 for a 24-hour period. Furthermore, the study revealed that SO2 emissions are mostly dispersed towards the northeast during the rainy season, influenced by the west monsoon winds. With SO2 ambient emission concentrations at Wisma Kebomas yard 6.12 µg/m3, Randuagung T-junction 86 µg/m3, Simpang Lima Sumorame 5.34 µg/m3, Gresik Town Square 76 µg/m3, Main Harbour 88 µg/m3, and in front of PT Petrocentral 82 µg/m3. This study also identifies the relationship or correlation between data with the weakest correlation value on rainfall with wind speed of -0.066 and the strongest correlation value with the correlation value between temperature and humidity data of -0.873, and the addition of linear regression analysis with the value Concentration (mg / Nm3) = 3812 - 66.7 temperature - 14.6 humidity - 13.42 wind speed + 1.31 rainfall.
