Abstract
The waste problem is a crucial problem that has an impact on aspects of life, such as in Sidoarjo. This research aims to examine the serious problem of waste management in Sidoarjo, especially around the Waru Waste Disposal Area (TPS). Waste burning, which is one of the management methods, has a negative impact on the environment and health through greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. This research focuses on determining the concentration level of Carbon Monoxide (CO) and its distribution pattern around the Waru TPS using AERMOD software. The main objective is to analyze CO concentrations based on direct measurements, modeling of pollutant dispersion, and provide a scenario for reducing CO concentrations. In this research, data was obtained from direct measurements and modeling using AERMOD software. Data from the Sidoarjo Environment and Cleanliness Service is the basis for determining the level of waste generation and its management. The research results show that the CO concentration when burning waste exceeds the specified quality standards, with the highest value reaching 16,949 µg/m³. Pollutant dispersion modeling shows the distribution pattern of CO concentrations around the Waru TPS, which is then compared with ambient air quality standards. Even though the highest concentration value exceeds the quality standard, it is still within the specified limit. Based on the research results, several efforts to reduce CO emissions are recommended.
