Abstract

After the withdrawal of United States troops from Afghan soil, the Taliban quickly managed to retake Kabul and overthrow the leadership President Ashraf Gani in Afghanistan in 2021. With strong relations history between the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Afghan Taliban, The Taliban's victory over Kabul indirectly had an influence development of the TTP, especially in its actions and operations in Pakistan alone. As a result, the number of TTP terror attacks in Pakistan has increase, especially in early 2021 when the Taliban succeeded in taking control of Afghanistan. In response to this, the Pakistani government implemented several counterterrorism strategies against TTP as a threatening terrorist group. In this research, the author used research type and explanatory-qualitative data analysis techniques. The data source used is secondary data originating from previous research, articles and scientific journals in accordance with the topic of this research. The author will use the concept of terrorism and counterterrorism theory to facilitate analysis and deep thought flow this research. Based on the research results, Pakistan Government's counterterrorism strategy in dealing with the TTP is carried out through two approaches, namely mediation as a soft approach and air attacks as a hard approach.
