Abstract

PT. PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo was founded in 1832 by the Goen Tjing family with the name N.V. Suiker Fabriek “Tjandi”. After going through many processes, in 2004 the name changed to PT. PG Candi. The location of PT PG Candi Baru is in Bligo village, Candi, Sidoarjo, East Java, specifically on Surabaya – Malang Street. The process of making sugar at PT. PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo uses a continuous alkaline sulfitation process with the main product is sugar with type Superior Hooft Suiker (SHS), the side products is filter cake, molasses and sugarcane bagasse. The sugar manufacturing stage includes several stations: Preparation Station, to prepare the sugar cane until the sugar cane is ready to be milled. Milling Station, to obtain as much sap as possible and minimize the sap content in the bagasse. Refining Station, to remove non-sugar content as much as possible by maintaining pol loss in filter cake. The Evaporation Station, to obtain thick sap with a %Brix of at least 60%. Cooking Station to cook thick sap by the process of forming and enlarging sugar crystals into product sugar. Spinning Station to separate sugar crystals from the solution by centrifuging. and Packing Station.
