Abstract
Bioplastics are plastics made from natural materials such as starch, for example seeds and tubers, as well as from cellulose such as nata. Bioplastics are easily degraded broken down by microorganisms or weather. Pineapple skin is part from pineapple fruit which has been underutilized so that it ends up as waste. The high carbohydrate content in pineapple skin can potentially be used as raw material for making nata. Apart from that, nata can also be made from rice washing water. Rice washing water has a lot of carbohydrate content, so it can be used by microorganisms as a medium for making nata. The resulting nata can be It is used as a material for making bioplastics because of the cellulose content in nata which is quite high. This research aims to make bioplastic from fruit peel nata pineapple and rice washing water that meets bioplastic quality standards, as well as looking for The best addition of CMC and glycerol in the bioplastic manufacturing process. Method Making bioplastics is by solution casting. The variable used is nata 15 gr, 3.5 gr chitosan with stirring at 500 rpm for 10 minutes at a temperature of 70℃. Variation in glycerol concentration 2%; 2.5%; 3%; 3.5%; 4% and CMC variation 4%; 6%; 8%; 10%; 12%. Based on research results, the best condition for bioplastics is in addition CMC concentration of 8% with 3.5% glycerol variation. The tensile strength value is 0.51 MPa, elongation of 71.49%, water resistance of 55.6517%, and biodegradation of 35.8188%. The SEM test results of bioplastics showed that the bioplastic structure was very tight and sufficient flat. Apart from that, the FTIR test showed that bioplastics have 5 peaks, of which 5 peaks. These represent the functional groups that form bioplastics such as the O-H functional group.
