Abstract
Snakefruit (salak) seeds are part of the salak fruit which has been underutilized so far that it ends up as waste. This study aims to find the best conditions for absorption of activated carbon in snakefruit (salak) seeds by carbonization process based on variations in activation concentration and soaking time to be used as a poison absorbent tablet that causes diarrhea. The method of making activated carbon is physical and chemical activation while making tablets is wet granulation. Variables were used, namely powder of 5 g of 100 mesh zalacca seeds carbonized at 350 oC for 1 hour 30 minutes, soaking with H3PO4 activator, and drying temperature of 120 oC. Variations in the concentration of H3PO4 in %v include 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2.0; 2.5 and immersion time in 1 hour; 1.5; 2; 2.5; 3. Based on the research results, the best condition for the absorption of activated charcoal is 753,315 mg/g in 2 hours, 2.5% H3PO4. In tablet analysis, the tablet weight was 112 mg, tablet thickness was 3.867 mm, tablet hardness was 3.654 kg and disintegration time was 14 minutes.
