Abstract

PT. Pabrik Gula Candi Baru is an agro-industrial company engaged in the sugar industry, processing sugarcane into White Crystal Sugar (GKP) of the Superior Hooft Suiker IA (SHS IA) type as its main product, with molasses, filter cake (blotong), and bagasse as by-products. Sugar processing at PT. PG. Candi Baru uses a continuous alkaline sulfitation purification process, with specifications for grain size, color (ICUMSA), ash content, moisture content, remission value, and SO₂ content in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 3140.3:2010. PT. PG. Candi Baru has implemented Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) and Good Handling Product (GHP) properly, while the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) has not yet met the requirements in terms of employee hygiene. Sanitation practices at PT. PG. Candi Baru have been implemented well, particularly environmental and equipment sanitation. However, worker sanitation has not been carried out effectively due to the extremely hot temperature in the processing area. Based on the research conducted, the issue of liquid waste at PG Candi Baru can be resolved by adding an adsorbent in the form of a mixture of cow manure and bagasse. By adjusting to the parameters required by PG Candi Baru, to reduce COD, BOD, TSS, and pH levels, an adsorbent consisting of cow manure and bagasse can be used with an adsorbent concentration of 3% of the total mixture volume. In addition, research conducted by Hananto in 2023 reported that bagasse adsorbent can also be used to reduce fat/oil content, where at a concentration of 3% of the total mixture volume, bagasse adsorbent can reduce fat levels in used cooking oil mixtures by up to 2.064%.
