Abstract
Soil erodibility is a soil characteristic that determines its susceptibility to erosion and is influenced by soil properties and land management. This study aimed to determine soil erodibility values, analyze differences in erodibility among land uses, and identify soil characteristics related to erodibility variation in the Junggo Sub-watershed, Bumiaji District, Batu City. The study involved field surveys and laboratory analysis of 15 soil samples representing five land uses: forest, dryland, terraced potato, non-terraced potato, and carrot. Soil erodibility was calculated using the Wischmeier and Smith equation based on soil texture, organic matter, structure, and permeability. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Tukey HSD, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that soil erodibility ranged from 0.12–0.39 ton.ha.hour/(ha.MJ.mm), with the lowest value in forest land and the highest in carrot land. Land use significantly affected soil erodibility. Organic matter and silt fraction showed significant relationships with erodibility, while regression analysis indicated that silt, clay, organic matter, structure, and permeability significantly affected erodibility. Maintaining soil organic matter and implementing conservation measures are therefore necessary to reduce soil erodibility in the Junggo Sub-watershed.
