Abstract
Domestic Investment (PMDN) is one of the key factors in driving regional economic growth through increased production capacity, job creation, and the development of economic activities. This study aims to analyze the effects of Regional Gross Domestic Product (GRDP), Interest Rates, and the Labor Force on Domestic Investment (PMDN) in the city of Surabaya for the period 2009–2024. This study employs a quantitative approach using time-series data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, which were analyzed using the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) method. The results of the study indicate that GRDP and the Labor Force have a positive and significant effect on Domestic Investment, while the Interest Rate has a negative and significant effect on Domestic Investment. These findings indicate that increased economic activity and labor availability can stimulate domestic investment, while interest rate hikes tend to hinder investment by raising the cost of capital. The results of this study are consistent with the Harrod-Domar Theory, Keynes’s Theory of Investment, the Solow-Swan Theory, and Adam Smith’s Theory, all of which emphasize the importance of capital, labor, and economic conditions in driving investment. Therefore, the Surabaya City Government needs to continue boosting local economic growth, maintaining interest rate stability, and improving the quality of human resources in order to promote sustainable growth in domestic investment.
