Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a vegetable plant from the Cucurbitaceae family that is used as a food ingredient, cosmetics, and herbal medicine. National cucumber production tends to decline, one of the reasons being the dominance of male flowers. Increasing the formation of female flowers is needed to increase yields. Gibberellin (GA₃) plays a role in cell elongation and enlargement and supports initiation and reduces female flower shedding, so it is applied through seed soaking. Meanwhile, cow manure as a source of macronutrients (N, P, K) can improve soil physical properties and support root growth. This study aims to evaluate the effect of seed soaking time in GA₃ and cow manure dosage on cucumber growth and yield. The study was conducted from May–August 2025 using a factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors, namely seed soaking time (4, 6, 8, and 10 hours) and cow manure dosage (562, 750, and 938 g/plant + NPK 37 g/plant), each replicated three times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and a DMRT 5% test. The results showed a significant interaction between the two treatments on almost all variables, namely plant length, number of leaves, age at flower emergence, number of female flowers, number of fruits per harvest, total number of fruits per harvest, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight per harvest, total fruit weight per harvest, and fruit weight per hectare.
