Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of Internship Experience and Organizational Experience on the Work Readiness of students in the Faculty of Economics and Business (Management, Accounting, and Development Economics study programs) at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, class of 2022. This study uses a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method through the SmartPLS application. The study population consisted of 1,013 active students, with a sample of 91 respondents determined using the Slovin formula (10% margin of error) through a non-probability sampling technique in the form of purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through outer model testing (validity and reliability) and inner model testing (R-Square and hypothesis testing with bootstrapping). The results show that Internship Experience has a positive and significant effect on Work Readiness, with a path coefficient of 0.412, a T-Statistic value of 5.466, and a P-Value of 0.000. Organizational Experience also has a positive and significant effect on Work Readiness, with a path coefficient of 0.468, a T-Statistic value of 6.457, and a P-Value of 0.000, indicating a relatively greater contribution than Internship Experience. The R-Square value of 0.548 shows that the two independent variables are able to explain 54.8% of the variance in Work Readiness, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside this research model. These findings indicate that the better a student’s internship experience and the more actively a student is involved in student organizations, the higher their level of work readiness.
