Abstract

Financial literacy has become an essential competency amid the rapid growth of the digital economy. Data from the 2025 National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey (SNLIK) shows that Indonesia's financial inclusion rate has reached 80.51%, while financial literacy remains at only 66.46% (OJK, 2025), reflecting a gap between access to financial services and the ability to use them wisely. This gap becomes increasingly urgent given the widespread circulation of financial information on social media, not all of which is credible. This study aims to analyze how financial literacy messages are constructed and delivered through the Instagram content of @finansialku_com, using a qualitative approach with Krippendorff's (2018) content analysis method applied to 23 pieces of content selected through purposive sampling from 65 uploads during the January to February 2026 period. Content categorization adapts Chen and Volpe's (1998) as cited in Choerudin et al. (2023), financial literacy framework into four categories: financial management, investment and financial planning, digital financial risk and protection, and financial decision-making. The findings show that @finansialku_com successfully packages complex financial material into simple and easily understood messages, yet this simplification was found to coincide with several tensions not visible on the surface of the content. Cross-category critical analysis reveals a structural tendency toward encouraging financial participation rather than risk mitigation, an individualization of financial problems that sidelines structural factors, ambiguity in the term "investment" as its meaning is rhetorically expanded, and commercial interests that are not entirely neutral behind the account's officially licensed institutional status. This study concludes that digital literacy, particularly the ability to evaluate credibility and understand message construction, is no less important than financial literacy itself in reading financial education content on social media.
