Abstract
The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stål.) is a major rice pest causing significant yield losses and crop failure. This study aimed to explore and identify Trichoderma sp. from Brenjonk organic fields and evaluate its potential as a biological control agent against N. lugens. Fungal exploration was conducted in the rhizosphere of vegetable crops from three fields using purposive sampling with five sampling points per field. Fungal isolation was performed using the insect bait method with Tenebrio molitor larvae. The efficacy test was conducted in vitro using a factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors: isolate origin and conidial density (10⁷ and 10⁸ conidia/mL). The results showed that Trichoderma sp. was successfully isolated from all sampling sites and exhibited typical morphological characteristics. Treatment J1K1 resulted in the highest mortality rate (92.14%), whereas J2K2 showed the lowest mortality rate (60.71%). All treatments reached 100% mortality by day 10. The fastest LT₅₀ value was observed in treatment J3K1 (82 hours). These findings indicate that Trichoderma sp. has strong potential as an effective biological control agent against N. lugens. Keywords: Entomopathogenic fungi, insect baiting methods, biological pesticides.
