Abstract

The logistics industry plays an important role in business activities and the development of various industrial sectors. Freight forwarding is a logistics activity that plays an important role in ensuring that goods reach the recipient from the sender according to the time, location, and conditions that have been set. PT Puma Logistics International is a company engaged in the logistics sector, mainly as freight forwarding services. PT Puma Logistics International always strives to provide fast and appropriate services in its implementation. The company faces problems in the delivery process of goods, especially in trucking services. Based on company data in 2025, there are many shipments that are delayed. This study aims to analyze the level of waste that occurs and compile recommendations for improvement in the freight delivery process at PT Puma Logistics International. This study uses a lean distribution approach, by applying Value Stream Mapping and waste identification using 8 wastes, namely including defects, overproduction, waiting, non utilized talent, transportation, inventories, motion and excess processing. From the results of the study, the rate of waste waiting was 17%, overproduction was 16%, inventory was 14%, excess processing was 13%, defects were 12%, transportation was 11%, non-utilized talent was 9%, and motion was 8%. With the proposed improvement, the time for the delivery of goods can be reduced from 1,453 minutes, to 1,202 minutes.
