Abstract

Yellow virus disease can reduce cayenne pepper productivity. Soil pH is suspected to influence disease development through its effect on plant condition. This study aimed to analyze the spatial distribution of soil pH and yellow virus disease intensity and to determine the relationship between both variables. Observations were conducted at 25 sampling points over three weeks. The observed variables were soil pH and disease intensity. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, variogram analysis, ordinary kriging, and Pearson correlation. The results showed that average disease intensity increased from 32.20% to 58.00%, while average soil pH remained relatively stable at 8.28–8.38. Geostatistical analysis indicated that disease intensity became more widely distributed, whereas soil pH was relatively homogeneous. Pearson correlation revealed a very weak and non-significant positive relationship between soil pH and disease intensity (r = 0.139; p = 0.234). Therefore, soil pH was not significantly associated with yellow virus disease intensity.
