Abstract

This Field Work Practice (PKL) was conducted at PT Temprina Media Grafika, one of Indonesia's leading printing companies. Initial observations identified a fundamental problem in the company's operational processes: raw material management and production planning still relied on manual methods using separate records and unintegrated communication. This manual system was found to cause various inefficiencies, such as stock data inaccuracies, delays in material procurement, and resource waste, which negatively impacted production effectiveness. Therefore, the main objective of this activity was to design and develop a functional web-based Material Requirements Planning (MRP) prototype system. This system aims to provide a digital solution by automating and integrating the entire material requirements planning process to improve data accuracy, operational efficiency, and support faster, data-driven decision-making. The development of this MRP system utilized a structured software engineering approach. The system was designed as a web application implementing the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural pattern and was built using the Laravel PHP framework to ensure rapid, secure, and well-managed development. Core functionalities implemented include modules for master data management (Items, Bill of Materials), transaction data management (Customer Orders), and the processing logic to run MRP calculations automatically. This calculation process, which includes netting, lotting, offsetting, and BOM explosion, is triggered whenever there is a change in demand data. To validate the system's functionality, a series of tests were conducted using the black box method, covering all workflows from Create, Read, Update, Delete (CRUD) operations in each module to the triggering of the core calculation process. The result of this activity is a functional web-based MRP prototype system that has been successfully deployed on the domain mrp.ranetwork.space. The black box testing results indicate that all tested features, including user authentication, data management, and the MRP calculation process, performed as expected and were declared "Successful". The system provides a centralized platform that effectively replaces the fragmented manual process and presents accurate, easy-to-analyze material requirement planning reports. Thus, this system not only serves as a tangible solution to the company's operational problems but also functions as a solid initial foundation for the future development of a more comprehensive information system, such as integration with a supplier module or a broader Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
