Abstract
The rise of social media has transformed the way Generation Alpha builds its identity and expresses itself in the digital space. One feature used for this purpose is TikTok’s repost feature, which allows users to reshare others’ videos as a form of self-representation. This phenomenon indicates that reposting serves not only as a means of content distribution but also as a medium for selfpresentation and self-disclosure. This study aims to identify the forms of self-presentation and self-disclosure among Generation Alpha through the TikTok content repost feature. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing of conclusions through source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that Generation Alpha’s self-presentation is carried out through the selection and reposting of videos that are considered representative of their identity. This study identified four forms ofselfpresentation: achievement, interest, selectivity, and positive persona. The five dimensions of self-disclosure according to DeVito were still identified, but were adapted to self-expression, self-deception, accuracy and honesty, personal, and entertainment in the context of social media. This study concludes that TikTok’s repost feature is no longer merely a means of sharing content, but has evolved into a medium for identity representation and self-expression that expands the concepts of self-presentation and self-disclosure in digital communication. This study concludes that TikTok’s repost feature is no longer merely a means of sharing content, but has evolved into a medium for identity representation and self-expression that expands the concepts of self-presentation and self-disclosure in digital communication.
