Abstract
A mid escalating socio-political tensions in Indonesia in August 2025, a cross-border digital solidarity movement known as SEAblings: Treat Your Driver emerged from a post by the X user @sighyam. Initially sharing a tutorial on ordering food through the Grab application, the post evolved into a collective movement across Southeast Asia to support Indonesian online motorcycle taxi drivers through information sharing, material assistance, and moral support. This phenomenon highlights social media's role not only as a platform for information exchange but also as a space for mobilizing collective participation and fostering transnational solidarity. This study examines how the discourse of digital solidarity within the SEAblings phenomenon was constructed to mobilize participation on X. Using a qualitative approach, the study applies Rodney H. Jones' Digital Discourse Analysis to analyze data from @sighyam's original thread, along with its comments, quote posts, reposts, and related posts, across four dimensions: text, context, interaction, and ideology and power. The findings show that digital solidarity was constructed through participatory culture, shared affect, empathy, and a collective Southeast Asian identity. The discourse not only encouraged humanitarian participation but also expressed criticism of Indonesia's socio-political conditions through appreciation, empathy, and the reinterpretation of the "foreign proxy" narrative. The study concludes that social criticism in digital spaces can be expressed not only through confrontation but also through care, empathy, and transnational solidarity facilitated by the X platform.
