Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic and employment dynamics affecting the layoff rate in subdistricts of Surabaya City. The approach involves clustering analysis based on labor turnover data to identify subdistrict patterns with similar characteristics and statistical modeling integrating key variables such as total layoffs, total furloughed workers, average age, and population size. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is employed to reduce data dimensions and extract the most influential variables on layoff rates. The clustering analysis groups subdistricts based on similarities in economic and employment patterns, providing insights into areas with high vulnerability to layoffs. Statistical modeling incorporating PCA highlights significant key factors, such as the contribution of average worker age and the total number of furloughed workers. These findings offer valuable insights for policymaking, including strategies to strengthen workforce resilience and economic intervention programs in vulnerable areas, as well as an analytical approach applicable to similar studies in the future.
