Abstract
Situbondo Regency has significant tourism potential due to its strategic location along the North Coast (Pantura) corridor of East Java and its rich coastal culinary heritage. However, its role is still predominantly limited to that of a transit area, with tourists spending relatively short periods in the region due to the lack of integrated culinary and hospitality facilities. As a result, the local economic potential, particularly in the culinary and tourism sectors, has not been fully optimized. Therefore, this project proposes a Culinary and Hospitality Complex in Situbondo as an integrated development that combines culinary facilities, accommodation, and public spaces to enhance the overall tourist experience. The primary objectives of the design are to extend tourists' length of stay, strengthen the identity of Situbondo's local cuisine, and promote community economic empowerment through the involvement of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The design process employs literature review, precedent studies, site analysis, spatial requirements analysis, and the application of the Force-Based Design method integrated with traditional architectural principles and sustainability concepts. The design also considers user comfort, accessibility, tropical climatic conditions, and functional connectivity throughout the site. The resulting proposal is a Culinary and Hospitality Complex comprising Situbondo's traditional culinary facilities, glamping accommodations, recreational areas, and integrated public spaces organized within a clear and accessible spatial layout. The project is expected to become a new tourism landmark in Situbondo, increase visitors' length of stay, and contribute positively to local economic development while strengthening the region's image as a culinary tourism destination in East Java.
