Abstract

Tomato is a horticultural commodity with high economic value; therefore, efforts are needed to sustainably increase its productivity. Improving tomato productivity can be achieved through the utilization of organic materials to maintain plant quality and environmental sustainability. These efforts can be carried out by regulating the composition of the growing media and applying liquid organic fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the best composition of growing media and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer derived from banana waste on the growth and yield of tomato plants, as well as to examine the interaction between these two factors. The study employed a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor was the composition of the growing media (M), consisting of five levels: M0 = soil (control), M1 = soil : rice husk charcoal : goat manure (1:1:1), M2 = soil : rice husk charcoal : goat manure (2:1:1), M3 = soil : rice husk charcoal : goat manure (1:2:1), and M4 = soil : rice husk charcoal : goat manure (1:1:2). The second factor was the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer from banana waste (P), consisting of three levels: P1 = 350 ml/L, P2 = 500 ml/L, and P3 = 650 ml/L. The results showed that the growing media composition of soil : rice husk charcoal : goat manure (1:1:2) produced the highest values for plant height 28-35 dat, number of fruits per plant, and fruit weight per plant. Liquid organic fertilizer from banana waste at a concentration of 500 ml/L produced the highest values for plant height 28-49 dat, number of leaf 42 dat, and fruit weight per plant.
