Abstract
Problems in rice farming in Kalimati Village, Tarik Sub-district, Sidoarjo Regency are characterized by the dominance of conventional planting systems that require higher labor input, longer planting time, and relatively higher production costs. Meanwhile, the adoption of rice transplanter technology as a form of agricultural mechanization has not been evenly implemented among farmers, despite its potential to improve farming efficiency. This condition is influenced by socio-economic factors of farmers, leading to differences in production cost structures and farm income. This study aims to analyze income differences between farmers using rice transplanter technology and those using conventional systems, identify constraints in technology adoption, and formulate strategies to improve its implementation. The research uses a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis. Quantitative analysis includes farm income analysis, comparative income analysis, normality test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Qualitative analysis applies Interpretative Structural Modelling (ISM). The results show differences in income between the two groups of farmers, influenced by production costs, labor use, and farming efficiency. Main constraints include education level, extension services, experience, social influence, risk perception, machine rental cost, dependency on service providers, and limited machinery availability. Recommended strategies include strengthening extension services, farmer institutions, access to agricultural machinery, and improving farmers’ understanding of mechanization. Keywords: Rice transplanter, Farm Income, Comparison, ISM, Agricultural Mechanization
