Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosures affect firm value in the healthcare sector among companies listed on the Singapore Exchange and the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2023 and 2024. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data from sustainability reports and annual reports. After removing outliers, the sample consisted of 41 companies with a total of 78 observations. Panel data regression using the Random Effects Model (REM) was employed for data analysis. The findings indicate that firm value, as measured by Price-to-Book Value (PBV), is not significantly influenced by environmental, social, or governance disclosures. Furthermore, simultaneous testing indicates that the three ESG pillars collectively do not significantly influence firm value. Limitations of this study include the relatively short study period, the use of PBV as the sole proxy for firm value, and ESG measurements focused on disclosure levels. It is recommended that future research extend the study period, use a wider range of firm value proxies, and include additional variables that potentially influence firm value. To provide more tangible benefits to investors and stakeholders, this study offers recommendations for the healthcare sector to improve the quality of ESG implementation and disclosure. This research is interesting because it examines environmental, social, and governance disclosure in the Indonesian and Singaporean healthcare sectors, a topic not widely explored in previous research.
