Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, parental education, self-control, and green financial behavior on the financial behavior of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Surabaya. Financial behavior is an important aspect for adolescents because it relates to the ability to manage money, determine the priority of needs, and make wise financial decisions. Amid the development of digital technology and the ease of access to various financial products, students are required to possess good financial management skills in order to avoid consumptive behavior and inappropriate financial decision-making. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population of this study consists of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Surabaya, with the sample determined using a purposive sampling technique and the Slovin formula at a margin of error of 7%, resulting in a sample of 123 students. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method with the assistance of the SmartPLS 4 application. The analysis was conducted through outer model testing, inner model testing, and hypothesis testing to determine the relationships between the research variables. The results indicate that financial literacy, self-control, and green financial behavior have a positive and significant effect on students' financial behavior. Self-control is the variable that contributes the greatest influence in shaping good financial behavior. Meanwhile, parental education does not have a significant effect on students' financial behavior. The coefficient of determination (R-square) value of 0.408 indicates that the variables of financial literacy, parental education, self-control, and green financial behavior are able to explain 40.8% of financial behavior, while the remaining 59.2% is influenced by other factors outside the research model.
