Abstract

This study examines the influence of self-control and future time perspective on the financial well-being of KIP-K recipient students at Universitas Airlangga through the dimensions of current money management stress and expected future financial security, with past and present financial behaviour serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 319 KIP-K recipient students selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that self-control has a negative effect on current money management stress, but does not significantly affect expected future financial security. Meanwhile, future time perspective has a positive effect on expected future financial security, but does not significantly affect current money management stress. In addition, current money management stress does not significantly influence expected future financial security. The mediation analysis indicates that past and present financial behaviour mediates the relationships between self-control and both dimensions of financial well-being, as well as between future time perspective and both dimensions of financial well-being. These findings highlight the important role of financial behaviour in linking psychological factors to the financial well-being of KIP-K recipient students.
