Abstract
The growth of the national fashion industry and the need for modern educational spaces in Surabaya presents an opportunity to create an integrated facility that connects production processes, public learning, and commercial activities. Surabaya, as the largest creative economy center in East Java, has strong potential to develop public spaces that are not only informative but also interactive, in keeping with the dynamic character of its urban community. Based on these conditions, this final project designs a Fashion Experience Center as an integrated fashion production, educational tourism, and retail facility within a single area. The design implements the "Hands-on to Hands-off Experience" concept, providing a multi-layered experiential journey, from observing the production process and educational activities to product appreciation and consumption in the retail and café areas. The Ecological-Spatial Layering approach and the principles of Modern Tropical Architecture are used to create a comfortable, shady, and climate-efficient space for Surabaya, while also providing a clear public, semi-public, and private zoning. The design results in an axial-layered massing arrangement, a spatial organization that separates visitor and operational flows, and the implementation of lighting, ventilation, and acoustic strategies that support production and educational tourism functions. This Fashion Experience Center is expected to become a regional icon and a public facility capable of increasing fashion literacy, supporting MSMEs, and strengthening the creative industry ecosystem in Surabaya.
